Schumann's Märchenbilder (Fairy Tale Pictures) is one of the most exciting pieces of Romantic chamber music. Originally for viola and piano, the idiomatic bassoon adaptation allows the instrument to sing and show off. Märchenbilder is in four movements with a total duration of approximately 16 minutes.
